A super walk set off from Sawdde Bridge at Llangadog, heading along the lanes and up farm tracks south east of the village.

The day started with the call for attention from Mr Wagstaff. We were duly instructed that the day’s walk would be easy, over flat ground and good paths, and promised to be led a slow pace with consequences for anyone who broke the rule. It was cold and windless, but crystal clear which resulted in us donning extra layers, woolly hats and gloves. Altogether we numbered 29 with two new lady members from Ystalyfera.
From the outset the Carmarthen bay rewarded us with wonderful coastal scenes especially enhanced by the subtle hues of the seascape and long shadows from the sun which was sitting low in the sky.
Salem 18 November 2018
A beautiful Autumn day for our 7.5 mile walk in Salem, near Llandeilo, attracted many walkers including new ones. After a welcoming chat our walk leader explained her unusual plan to deal with a very muddy patch in a distant field – using bundles of hay as stepping stones. So, several of us carried hay across fields and stiles, dumping them when we reached the deep mud at a field edge. Yes, the plan worked!
Castlemartin Range Walk 30th September 2018
The weather report promised an overcast but dry day. In the event however we suffered perpetual drizzle and a couple of showers en-route to the rendezvous point. In all we numbered fourteen, with our National Park guide Peter Royale and his colleague Nicky. A couple of guest Ramblers also turned up. Many of the experienced and wiser members donned their waterproofs, but the careless incumbent writer had put too much trust in the weathermen and had left his behind. He fell back onto his contingency and donned a blue bag under his outer layer. Soon afterwards however the weather brightened and thereafter we enjoyed a splendid day. The blue bag was soon dispensed with.
Maenclochog 24 June 2018
Sixteen of us, with no dogs, left the car park at Maenclochog (pretty car park with flower boxes on the picnic tables maintained by the local residents) for a short road walk before turning off onto a track which led us onto a boardwalk. The boardwalk led through a wood which was eerie enough to be used in a suspense drama as a film set!
A walk through open moorland which was reasonably flat before we ascended up towards the trig point which was a fairly stiff climb given the temperature and the cloudless sky. However, the further we climbed the more spectacular the view became with a stunning 360 degree view at the top.
BB8 - Offa's Dyke 10 June 2018
On a quiet Sunday morning in bright sunlight, the long drive to the English border through the lush green summer blanket of the Welsh countryside set the mood for the day. The complications of a linear walk were managed with military precision, and in no time nine of us including a guest from Essex were ascending the formidable gradient to the top of Hay Bluff. At the summit, a mile into the walk, we took our first water stop to admire the spectacular panorama over the whole of mid-Wales.
